hey im trying to apply a decal to a cylinder and it seems to put off half the decal cause it goes onto another face/side of the cylinder is there some way around this so you can wrap a decal all the way around it? i've tried so many ways and i cant get it right.

Not to my knowlege, just like sprays ingame, the will not "wrap". your best bet would be to make either a texture to use on a rounded surface: select all faces and tick "treat as one"

Or use overlays and just position them inline with each other.....please let me know if you figure out an better way.....I too have run into this inconvenience.. Smile

i made a texture in paintshop 512 by 512 and i did apply it but its does to all faces lol so gay. and when i apply it to a wall it comes out HUGE not like smallest how you u resize or auto fit it?

ok i found out there that teat as one was andit kinda of worked but didn't so i have a texture that say | ÐØÂ | but it mirror it the wrong way and then it has it right and it just multi's it down Sad i guess it wont work .... anyone got any other ideas? or is it not possible

Well you can use "treat as one"

The texture is broken into 4 chunks.....

select all 4 faces that you would like.(in red)


then

tick "treat as one" and you can scale the proportions and rotate on the other side of this user box.

Then when you have your settings to your likings
hit apply!!!!!!and your image should have been made to look like "one chunk".



For your flipping problem you can go into that texture edit box and in "Align"(bottom right just under "treat as one") Tick "face" NOT WORLD" this will fix your flipping problem!!! hopw this helps

yeah i've tried all this but its on a cylinder still. seems to just fit it to each side of the cylinder still. the "face" option stoped the flipping problems but still cant get it to stretch across the whole 8 sides. Sad

Also i followed your tranperant thing...and does that work for textures too? cause its not doing it Sad so sad lol tried it a few things

OOH wow ... ok jacket this how you fix it...

i had 8 slides selected and it ended up putting it fitted on each side which was gay as..

..i ended up trying just selected 2 sides and WOW it put it across both but as u got up more you could see image doubling up .... i ended up selecting each one by itself and just moved it left a bit till it all matched up. but i was left with 3.5 faces correct and then the start on the image again on the .5 left over cause i had to move it over more...

So i guess the fix for this would be to leave heaps more white space on image so it dont show up. but this should fix my issue Very Happy thanks for the help dude. now to get the image to look how i want it Very Happy (sigh another headache)

hahah lol happy to be of service, we can all learn from this now everybody,........STEAM/VALVE should release an update for the hammer editor to "warp" textures around objects,........

Just some food for thought.! Smile
