What does the emoticon face =\ actually mean?

i always thought it was like a half pissed off, half confused emote, kinda like =S

just my interpretation

im thinkin confused

"I don't know what to say" is how I use it.

"Not really sure"

yeah i kinda use it for both what crunchy and fletch said. and sometimes even a "... how could you not understand what they mean? it's blindingly obvious... =/" type context. which i suppose falls under "i don't know what to say"... meh.

Just look at it in what context it's used really, it has varied meanings

I see it as an "err..." like a sidelong glance at a mate when you see someone doing something truly boneheaded

haha thanks, someone asked what it meant the other day and i couldnt explain it, i just told them i dont know but i know when to use it
