What's all this about PS3 fat owners having trouble connecting to the PSN, clock reverting back to 1999, trophies being deleted, not being able to play some offline games? I turned on my PS3 and I can play downloaded games fine and the date is right. Anybody having the problems they're talking about?

I was just wondering if any PS3 owners on here are having the problems stated. I'm not so I was wondering if it was just a fluke. They're also saying that themes are becoming corrupt but mine are fine.

This error is happening on non-connected PS3s as well, which means theres something wrong with the firmware. People are calling it the Y2K10 or 02/28/2K10 bug, since it usually reverts the system clock back to 1999. For some reason, this affects almost everything else as well, and the only probable fix will be a firmware update. Some folks are thinking that the PS3 and the system clock want to recognize 2010 as a leap year, and the calendar says no way dude, thats not for a couple years, and the conflict is causing the system to crap all over itself. I still advise to not even bother touching the system until the issue is resolved, though (manually setting the clock wont work either).

And yeah, its confirmed the Slim systems are just fine. Sounds like a definite incompatibility issue with the firmware and the older models.

yeah its something to do with the firmware or whatever for the older 'fatter' PS3's.

i did however hear somewhere that it might only be affecting the older 20GB and 40GB PS3 models...?? could be wrong though
