Interesting video. Although I think social media is the way forward, I'm sure that it can be very dangerous (and powerful) for a group/organization to initiate mass opinion change via social media channels. As the saying goes "With big power comes big responsibility" and with social media the responsibility is spread over the internet. I don't always trust the interwebs to be responsible or even accurate.
With social media it is more obvious how many idiots really walk among us. This makes me sad. Idiots are like zombies. I need a shotgun for the zombies. This makes me happy

Yeah some of the stats just didnt look right, although a few were actually on the low side of things (they change so rapidly). When it comes down to to people will always try and find a new way to communicate more effectively and efficiently. We have gone from gestures to grunts to song to paper to telephone to cellphone to BBS to internet to interconnected devices. So the whole social media revolution isnt going to to here. If anything it will become more consolidated, think google wave but alot less fail.
By consolidated i mean more complexity being built into the one application while still keeping a 'flow' to it, to me twitter is just a toy it has limited functionality, however facebook is integrating quite a bit into their interface.
thats for 2010 so the last 6 months data, that means facebook has ~35% of all internet traffic (for alexa users at least) cant get the comscore.
As for the interwebs being accurate, its only a case of going somewhere to get information, fool me once, my fault, fool me again... i will sneak into your house and take all your left socks. And a bit of common sense
And yeah its a bit scary the way that some companies are positioning themselves on the internet.

Hahaha, its used by professional's during work time for work type stuff Griev, so if you want to talk to some CFO's CEO's and other manager/sales people then goo ahead reason its a roller coaster is that no-one wants to look at work on a sat/sun

Yeah, LinkedIn is more for being visible to the professional industry and promoting yourself online for future jobs etc. It is like an online CV with messaging options.
I am sure that job recruiters or prospective employers do a in-depth google/linkedin search about you to see what your "online personality" is.

Yep, works both ways though, i always to a full check of the company that im looking at getting a job at. Look at the financials and do a search of the CEO and manager that i will be working for etc. Helps to know what your getting into before you get to a job. There is so much information out there its not funny.
May sound strange but if i dont see any information about a company online i am less inclined to use them or work for them. Its sort of a peer review thing, just like that video above, more people trust other peoples opinions rather than advertising from the company.

Hahaha, nahh its a good site, not really spam have had a couple of job offers through it a few years back but havent really updated it for a while (thats the problem with social media, too many sites not enough time to keep up with them all).
Have heard its great for people that work on contract terms, since there is the testimonial thing etc and can see who recommends you etc

yeah i just find the whole social media thing interesting, seeing where we are going in the future. the internet is actually a really interesting tool and will always surprise me at what you can do with it. but it does make you wonder though at what some of these companies are trying to do.
ive heard a whole heap about Google working in with the government and so forth. nothing solid just heard but if that stat of Youtube being the 2nd biggest search then from my view Google has the top two spots.
but it does just make you wonder about people intentions on the web

4 yahoo.com Personalized content and search options. Chatrooms, free e-mail, clubs, and pager.
5 live.com Search engine from Microsoft.
Well there is the top 5 for Alexa (all websites not just search), so yeah youtube is in the second top spot as a "search engine" if you want to call it that Technically Facebook could be counted as an indexing/search provider as well in which case they dont have the top two spots.
Youtube also sucks a large amount of money from the rest of google as its bandwidth is so freaking high. "RampRate puts the losses at $174.2m" which is some 2/3rd's lower than credit suisse's prediction. I would go with ramprate's prediction, though thats still a massive amount to write off even though they will be getting a massive amount of popularity/loyalty.
