Crunchy got a virus. GG.

So in doing some illegal downloading of TV shows, as I do every week, I got stung by a virus in a .txt file.

It took me by complete surprise, I guess I left my guard down as I'm usually really cautious. Anyways - I don't how long I'll be out of action but it shouldn't be longer than a week.

Its called the Vundo virus if you guys are interested in looking in to it, continuously hampers by bandwidth by opening webpages and stuff. It also deleted my Start menu among other highly annoying things.

I've tried everything the internet has told me and nothing has worked, I think it might because there is two different generations of the virus on my computer, helping each other out.

Reboot into safe mode and try removing it there. If the effects are still in safe mode do a windows repair installation and a virus scan/removal when u log back in

i got this virus once its a massive pain in the ass. to make it go away your going to have to download 2 programs

program no.1: VundoFix.exe
program no.2: Highjackthis.exe


then after running them run your virus program
as an extra you should probably run spybot: search and destroy
or something similar

and just for extra security i suggest not being connected to internet/network while doing any of this

if all else fails you will have to reformat

Might try safe mode, Vundo fix didn't work but I didn't use HighJack.

I'll try these tonight or tomorrow see what happens.

hijackthis is pretty good. But if its fucking with the start menu and shit id just do a repair install and remove it after that with a normal virus scan.

I didnt say it worked well! sometimes it works. like on IM programes I can be Guereze Mico from portuagul. xD
