NEW Computers for Geoff & Fodder

Hey Guys,

As you all know Fodder & Geoff have been playing with stone age PC's. And are lucky to get like 10 FPS.

I think it would be a good idea if we could all chip in a buy them a decent computer each. I can source everything from a guy i know as i get discounts through my business or if someone else know of a place where they can get parts at a cheap price. Then we can ship it to em (i can do this as well via company i work for) They dont have to be super computers just something a little more modern.

I think it would be a nice way to pay them back for all the years of effort they have put towards DOA and the members who made it come alive. Whenever there was a problem or whenever something need to be done etc, fodder & geoff have been there. While other clans have come and gone DOA has remained. Not to mention them to be just good alround blokes!!

So i ask if all the members and regulars could donated any spare change that could towards this noble cause. And who knows geoff and fodder might actually start beating us haha

Im really low on money after the present whore holiday, but this is an awesome idea. well deserved i think.

Yeah i know everyone is low on money as chrissy has just gone and new years etc. It doesnt have to happen like tomorrow its a WIP.

I put together some specs of something half decent tomoz and ill post it on here for everyone too look and give opinions as well as a price that i can get them for.

good idea pyro, but wait till after the lanl. Some things have been sorted out already (snowy's trying to bring fodder down a newer one) and other than that, ppl are still trying to pool money together for the lan itself (me included).

good idea. I think if people made more small donations ( like consistent ones, month after month) then they would know they could spend the money they spend on the server on new comps instead.

A noble proposition! but if I had the spare cash I would chuck it into the server donate instead. But thats just me

(ps: I enjoy killing em - theyre the only ones I can! so I offer a counter bargain! donate to the server instead of to their new computers so that I may feel like I am a better player than I am!

Yeah as i said it doesnt have to happen like now, but i thought if i could spread the word now when the time is right we can move ahead, we can get as many people involved as possible.

Server payments aren't an issue, for Geoff and Fodders sack im sure i can bend the rules a little when it comes to paying for the server... :p Im the owner i can do that lol! (i got that line from fodder :p only he said it better lol )

Nice specs. smilin but i think $791.20 would be a little over the top. While it would be great to get sometihng like that i think it would be a bit too much to ask from the members. Ill speak to my guys today and see what i can get ill post specs up soon.

Dunno whats happened lately, I go down to 7-8 fps a lot lately, which is totally unplayable of course. Used to do it occassionly on certain maps, but now its really often which is gay as.

Anyways, awesome idea and I get all warm and fuzzy to think yas care enuff, but hey save ur money for urselves eh.

what sort of specs/fps?

well playing on the DOA server with a 22inch widescreen running 1680x1050 or something was pulling out FPS ranging from 50-100 or so


HDR off and a few other display settings turned down a bit but still looks all good.

just a P4 3.0GHz, 2GB Ram, 8600GT 512mb card, 300GB Sata drive and a 500GB IDE drive with windows XP.

nothing special but does the job for CSS

definately does, i have that same card at the moment, good card, can turn everything to high, cant remember if hdr is on or not and have it on 1600x1080 and have fps around 40-80 depending on how much is going on. Although i have a q6600 2.4ghz and 2gb 1066 ram.

Fod if your kdr doesnt improve then we know its not the computer your getting a pretty good comp.
