Camping

I am now classing camping as people who go to one side of spawn, then instantly double back.

You will be slain for doing this, consider yourselves warned.

I already slay people for doing this. Also if you take shots down the middle of a map like funtimes, then run down one of the side alleys, I consider that camping, as you have taken too long to get out of spawn.

Guys this camping zealotry is out of control... I do this double-back deal SOMETIMES because I turn the corner and there is 7 opposing people vs me on my lonesome.

I LEG IT, coz I dont have a chance and make my way through the other side... please at least take a look at the circumstances that people do these things before slaying or banning etc.

I do the same thing crunchy, what we are referring to is those who say start on the left passageway with their team mates, pick off or hold the side, then double back in spawn to mow down the guys who went the other way.

This isn't camping zealotry, this is me being sick of seeing people in spawn. I don't think it's too much to ask for people to cover half the map at least before going back to spawn.

Doubling back if there are a bunch of rushers against you shouldn't put you in your spawn when they come through. Especially not waiting for you.

so many time you actually spawn in that middle bit same with the other team. so what if your shooting at each other it happens all the time. then if you kill someone and you run around the side to help your team mates out how the fuck can this be camping? i dont know about how many people use their mini map thing but i use it a lot. it helps to tell ya where to go and if you see red dots or your team mate die i run round that area coz i know the other team is there.
sometimes on funtime i will run down the side to see that there is no one from the other team there, they all went the other way (from looking on my minimap) so i do double back into spawn to have a go at them, saves a whole heap of time then just randomly running round the map trying to find them. spawn is fucken big on this map and there is no way to avoid it. there are a few maps that are like this as well, sometimes spawn cannot be avoided because its part of the map.

another example of this doubling back is on Snow, sometimes the whole team runs around one side and the enemy isnt there, i dont know about all you but to me this tells me that they all went the other way. so instead of running round the whole map trying to catch them i peel off from the group and run back through spawn to get to the enemy quicker and no i never go on the back wall when doing this.
can i ask, how is that camping?
im actively running towards the enemy to either get kills or to be killed. to me that cannot be camping.
same goes is when i spawn on the last side of this map (along with all my teammates) i sometimes run round to the right side, so there is no one blocking me or whatever and by the time i get to the corner, the other team has already reached it. i get called for camping or whatever (which is fucken bullshit) but seriously what i do is no where near camping.

everyone has their own opinions on what camping is and thats fine, we all see it in different ways.

oh and Smurf, if you run to the other spawn and then run back, isnt that covering half the map?

Smurf usually me and you and of course others are pretty quick to get on any campers but i think we should leave it to that degree of observance.

I tend to agree with crunchy, i do that sometimes aswell, but i do, in essence, rush, at least 99% of the time. I think doa gungame camping rules should be restricted to getting people out of the bloody spawn and making sure they rush after that, what they do after that (meaning double backing to possibly catch enemies off guard) is fine. Thats just my two cents, we want doa to be strict and profound in its non-camper stance but not to the level where it becomes almost an obession or dicatatorship (not having a go at you smurf, i am guilty of getting fkn pissed sometimes aswell). We, at all want to maintain and continue the furtherence of doa gg as a good spirited server.

This discussion brings me back to the question I asked a month or so ago about defining the meaning of camping.AS far as i'm concerned if you draw a line acros the spot where you spawn from right to left if you are still in that zone after 20 seconds of the round starting and are not making any effort to move out of that zone ,you are camping and therefore open to warnings and punishment,slays and bannings.We all know the definition of spawn and if you have made a move to rush into battle then thats not camping,I agree with the changing directions back thru spawn if you encounter overwelming numbers.
It's the people that sit in one place and shoot or hide in one place to ambush that are definately camping and need slaying.we've decided that a quick duck behind a wall to avoid a sray of bullets then coming out again isn't camping and as long as you are moving you can't be deemed camping.Just my view on it all,cheers

The camping issue obviously needs clearing up. Fodder and I will decide on an exact definition and have it on the motd and as a web shortcut , like setrates.

Your'e all ALMOST right lol. I see three types of camping. Theres straight out camping, like in normal cs, (sitting in the one spot), theres the camping that DOA doesnt tolerate (consistantly doing gay stuff on boxes, crouching in spawn, hanging back walls etc), then there is practices we dont like. Like doubling back into spawn, always going to the roof etc. It's the CONSISTENCY thats the issue.

The guys that have typed about this, crunch, snowmann etc, are cool. It's the guys that use this as a tactic all the time that are a pain. Some dudes double back into spawn all the time eh. Some guys fkn always go roof to pick off kills. Thats gay as. Like "roundabout" "deserta" etc. Going roof all the time, running round the edges looking down pickin off guys. Do it all the time......thats "camping" on our server, even tho thats not the strict definition of camping.

Anyway, we'll do some special camping post for peeps on the server with a link to the forums, prolly be happening by the weekend.

i think we really do need a place on the forums that clearly outlines for the different situations what "OUR" definition is on camping. we need it to be something that we all agree on.
Fodder has clearly stated that there are different 'types' of camping and all of these need to be addressed clearly for everyone so that there is no confusion in the future.

hopefully that way we can minimize the bitching from random players that join the server.

not to bad, hard to find the right girl so there has been heaps of 'test drives' to make sure we got the right one
its fucken exhausting though...

imo, camping is basically if i rush out, and find the same person in almost the same spot 4 rounds out of 5 i get pissed off. if you spawn late, or if you double back cos your team are all rushing one way, fair enough, but if you do that every round, then perhaps its time to change tactics?
